Crawler-Mounted Water Well Drilling Rig
The WR180E is a compact crawler water well drilling rig designed for rural water supply, farmland irrigation, orchards, farms, and small engineering water well construction. The equipment has a maximum drilling depth of 180 m and a drilling diameter of 90–230 mm. It is equipped with a 28 HP Changchai diesel engine, 16 T lifting force, and a 1.5 m mast. Its overall structure is lightweight and easy to transport, making it more suitable for conventional well drilling projects with limited budgets, scattered hole locations, and frequent site transfers.
The E in WR180E represents a cost-effective configuration. This model does not pursue the high power and extra-large hole diameter of large deep well equipment. Instead, its power, lifting, and traveling systems are configured around common 180 m-class water well requirements, making it suitable for small drilling teams, agricultural users, and regional construction teams to control initial equipment investment.
Compared with small rigs in the 120 m class, the 180 m maximum drilling depth provides greater depth margin for water exploration and can cover more shallow to medium-depth groundwater projects in rural, hilly, and agricultural areas. The actual completed well depth should still be determined according to the local groundwater level, aquifer position, hole diameter, and construction process.
The WR180E can be used for household water wells, village domestic water wells, and small public water intake projects. The 90–230 mm drilling diameter can be selected according to well casing size, submersible pump specifications, and expected water yield, making it suitable for rural projects that are relatively sensitive to equipment mobility and construction cost.
Farmland, orchard, greenhouse, and nursery projects often have many hole locations and scattered construction sites. The crawler chassis makes it easy for the equipment to move along field roads and general unpaved sites. The 180 m-class drilling depth also provides a wider application range than smaller equipment.
Farms and ranches have stable demand for drinking water, cleaning, and daily production water sources. The WR180E uses diesel power and does not rely on a fixed power grid, so it can be used for small-scale groundwater development in remote agricultural and livestock sites.
The equipment is equipped with a 28 HP Changchai diesel engine to provide power for the hydraulic system, rotation, and crawler traveling. This power configuration is more oriented toward economy and practicality and is suitable for conventional shallow to medium-depth water well construction. During continuous operation, the engine oil, cooling, fuel system, and air filter should be checked according to regulations.
The 16 T lifting force can be used for normal drill pipe tripping, drilling tool recovery, and handling some downhole tools. If abnormal pulling resistance, hole wall shrinkage, or poor cuttings removal occurs, the formation and downhole conditions should be judged first. It is not recommended to rely solely on maximum lifting force for forced handling.
The rotation speed range is 40–70 rpm and can be adjusted according to the drill pipe, drill bit, and formation conditions. Soil layers, weathered layers, and alternating soft and hard formations have different requirements for rotation and feed. Operators should adjust parameters in a timely manner according to drilling resistance, cuttings removal, and hole wall stability.
The WR180E can use 50 mm, 60 mm, and 76 mm drill pipes, with drill pipe lengths of 1.5 m and 2.0 m. Shorter drill pipes facilitate manual operation, transportation, and construction in narrow sites, and are also more in line with the intended use of a small crawler drilling rig.
The 1.5 m mast keeps the whole machine at a lower working height and smaller transport volume, making it suitable for courtyards, orchards, small construction sites, and rural roads where space is limited. A shorter mast also means the drill pipe replacement frequency will be higher than that of long-stroke models, so this machine is more oriented toward flexibility and economy rather than pursuing the continuous drilling efficiency of large equipment.
The whole machine weighs about 1.8 T, with overall dimensions of about 3000 × 1300 × 1700 mm, making it suitable for transfer between construction sites using small transport vehicles. For users with multiple hole locations, small-scale projects, and ordinary rural road conditions, the lighter whole machine can reduce transportation and loading/unloading difficulty.
The key to construction in loose formations is maintaining hole wall stability. Soil layers, clay, sand layers, and gravel layers may experience hole collapse, diameter shrinkage, and drill burial. Suitable drilling tools and hole stabilization methods should be selected according to formation conditions, and normal cuttings removal should be maintained.
In weathered rock and alternating soft and hard formations, operating parameters should be adjusted according to rock hardness, rotation load, and drilling speed. If the project is mainly in complete high-hardness rock layers, or if construction is long-term near the maximum drilling depth, the matching of drilling tools, power, and equipment class should be reevaluated.

Before starting work, check the crawler, mast, hydraulic lines, drill pipe connections, and power system; during construction, continuously observe rotation resistance, cuttings removal, and equipment temperature; after completion, promptly clean mud and debris, and check drill pipe threads, hydraulic joints, and wearing parts. During site transfer and transportation, the equipment should be properly secured.
According to the user's latest confirmation, this product is uniformly designated as WR180E on this page, and the maximum drilling depth is 180 m; other parameters remain unchanged from the original data configuration. Drill pipe lengths are 1.5 m and 2.0 m according to the user's supplementary information.
Due to differences in actual geological conditions, downhole tools, drilling angle, and operating methods, the final drilling efficiency, drilling depth, and completed well results should be based on on-site working conditions.
